No, I'm not trying to be blasphemous. It's just an idea that came to me about Easter in today's day and age. I don't know how many people really celebrate Easter for what it is, or if some people even know why we celebrate Easter.
The Easter Bunny seems to have become the new symbol of Easter, so I drew this kind of in the style of those old paintings of the Madonna and child.
The old masters did wonderfull work, no?
Easter was originally a pagan holiday to celebrate Spring and rebirth, but the Christians wanted conversion to be smooth, so they placed Jesus' martyring around the same date. And somehow the harvest became all about witches on brooms and Frankenstein's monster, but there's a reason for that too in different cultures. XD Humans have a problem with association.
NO, Easter was not for that reason... Jesus died on the cross (good friday) and rose from his grave three days later (easter sunday) therefore, the really religious freaks celebrate it as the rising of god on the third day. as for us, we just go have easter dinner with my grandparents, ot they come here, and we eat candy and junk food, and go on an egg hunt! lol... we used to go to church, but not anymore... omg is church boring!
We do pretty much the same thing - go to my grandpa's with the rest of the relatives and have turkey and junkfood and then sit around and talk and munch all day.
My ma and pa still go to church. I think they expect me to go with them tomorrow.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
`TomWilcox is renown for his stunning fractal art. Each deviation is detailed to perfection, beautifully crafted with vibrant colours. Many of Tom's distinctive artworks are award winning and have been published internationally, firmly placing him as a leader within the fractal community. With a friendly nature and an inspirational spirit, `TomWilcox can always be found taking time to leave positive and encouraging comments for other artists. It's for all this and much more that we are delighted to award Deviousness for February 2010 to `TomWilcox... Read More
